Everything I Wanted Came With a To-Do List
Hey guysss!
It’s been a while. I am back, and I’m not sure if I’m better than ever LOL.
So, I guess we’re officially in season two of my blog. The reason I’m calling it season two is because I completely failed at being as consistent as I wanted to be. My job got intensely busy, my business got busy, thank God, and I also really wanted to stay active in my social life.
So now, here I am: stressed, overwhelmed, booked and busy, with a broken nail that I cannot stop staring at.
I feel like as soon as I turned 30, I started seeing what my life is actually going to look like. And to be honest, I’m happy. I’m doing every single thing that I want to do, and I genuinely enjoy all of it.
But y’all... I am exhausted. LOL.
Did I even mention that I’m trying to be a content creator now too? LOL. I’m trying to retire my mama!
But seriously, HOW did our parents do it? How did they juggle everything they did, sometimes with little to nothing, and still wake up and do it all over again every single day? I can barely cook every day.
And now we’re back to weddings.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every wedding and event I’ve done this year. I’m officially down to two weddings and two events remaining for the year, which is crazy to even say.
It’s been such a busy year for Ade Events. I’ve tried new things with my business, taken on more responsibility, and finally started hiring people to join my team. Having a team has definitely put a lot into perspective for me because now I have to figure out what kind of boss I want to be, and what kind of boss I need to be in order for Ade Events to become as successful as I know it can be.
Every time I think about being a boss, I think about an interview Beyoncé did a long time ago where she talked about how, as a woman, sometimes being respected means being okay with people labeling you a bitch.
And honestly... I get it now.
Sometimes you have to be firm. Sometimes people aren't going to like your decisions. Sometimes you have to tell people exactly what you expect and hold them accountable for doing what they're supposed to do.
I've already had to fire someone. I've hired someone. And now I'm hoping to be doing even more hiring for next year. The never-ending cycle of owning a business.
But I will say, this business has truly built my integrity, and it has built my confidence.
I’m telling you, no one could have told me years ago that I would be where I am today or operating at this capacity.
There are so many things I have now, and so many things I'm doing that I once genuinely thought were impossible for me to achieve.
Maybe that’s part of the reason I keep adding more tasks and responsibilities to my plate. Every time I accomplish something I once thought was impossible, I realize that everything really is within reach.
And all glory truly belongs to God.
So yes, I’m tired. I’m juggling A LOT. I have weddings to finish, a business to grow, a full-time career, content I want to create, people I want to show up for, and somewhere in there, I also have to remember to show up for myself.
But I’m excited. And more than anything, I’m grateful, even for the tiredness.
Because so much of what is keeping me busy right now is connected to something I once wanted, prayed for, or couldn't even imagine myself accomplishing.
I’m looking forward to seeing where Ade Events will be by the end of this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how far I, the brand outside of Ade Events, can go too.
I’m juggling a lot right now, but I’m praying that one day I’ll look back at this season and realize it was all worth it.
So... welcome to season two.
Please join me for the ride.
